Tony Mangia has been internationally published as a writer and photographer for over thirty years. He has contributed to many publications including: The New York Times Magazine, The Associated Press, The New York Post, The Boston Globe, World of Sport magazine, Village Voice, Wall Street Journal, National Geographic, Gothamist,
Daily Mail, Wink News (CBS),
American Motorcyclist, Travel and Leisure, and The Ring Magazine. Tony has covered sports all over the world including championship fights, Olympic Games and fourteen Super Bowls. He was a New York correspondent for Sygma Photo Agency and stock photographer for Sportschrome, before becoming a staffer at The Union City Dispatch and Editor at The Other Paper. His photo essays include 'ride-alongs' with undercover drug officers of the NYPD and E.M.S units of the NYFD. Over the past couple of years Tony spent one month in Africa photographing the Kenyan border towns near Somalia, traveled five weeks throughout China, photographed Iquitos, Peru in the Amazon Basin and has recently done volunteer work in eight countries including Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Malaysia and Tanzania.
Tony's award-winning photographs have been shown at galleries and museums in New York City, Soho, Los Angeles, Connecticut and Newark.
Tony continues to be a regular contributor to MSN, Fox Sports, NBC Sports and as a sportswriter and photographer. He recently published
Fascination, a "fictional memoir" of 1971 New York City.
